The man who shot former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique on October 12 outside his son’s office was arrested on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh while trying to escape to Nepal.
During the investigation, the accused, Shiv Kumar, confessed to his links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A member of the gang had claimed responsibility for the murder just a day after the shooting.
Shiv Kumar revealed that the murder was carried out on the orders of Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi. He also mentioned that Shubham Lonkar, believed to be a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, had facilitated his contact with Anmol Bishnoi several times.

Shiv Kumar, one of the attackers responsible for the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, was arrested in Nanpara, Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, during a joint operation on Sunday conducted by the state’s special task force and the Mumbai crime branch.
With the arrest of Shiv Kumar and the four accomplices, the total number of arrests in connection with the case has now reached 23.
Siddique, aged 66, was shot dead by three gunmen on October 12 in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The police suspect that Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was behind the murder, although the motive remains unclear.
Alongside Shiv Kumar, two other assailants, Gurmail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, were involved in the shooting. Baba Siddique was killed in front of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office.

They were in contact with Pravin Lonkar, one of the alleged conspirators, and Rupesh Mohol, another accused who had already been arrested.
Lonkar and Mohol allegedly provided a 9 mm pistol with ammunition to Gulankar and Shaikh, who were supposed to use it in the crime. The pistol was recovered during the investigation, and efforts are ongoing to trace the ammunition.
