How to Do Ganesh Visarjan At Home?
Traditionally, Ganpati Bappa’s idol is immersed in a river, pond, or lake. However, if you’re environmentally conscious or don’t have a water body nearby, you can perform Ganpati Visarjan at home while following the rituals. Although Ganesh Visarjan is usually done on the last day of the ten-day festival, it can also be done on the first, third, fifth, or seventh day.
To perform Ganpati Visarjan at home, gather with your family for Ganesh Puja. Offer sweets like modak and laddu, as well as fruits, to Ganpati Bappa. You can also prepare 56 different types of offerings (chappan bhog) for the Lord. After the puja, perform an aarti for Ganpati Bappa’s idol.
Next, fill a large vessel with clean water and add some Gangajal. Chant Lord Ganesha’s mantras and prayers as you carry out these rituals. Lift the idol of Bappa while chanting “Ganpati Bappa Morya Mangal Murti Morya” and gently place it in the vessel.
After immersing Ganpati Bappa’s idol and completing the rituals, pour the water under a peepal tree or into a pot. Also, dispose of the puja materials along with the idol.
