The highly awaited 2025-26 Men’s Ashes series is set to begin with the first Test at Perth Stadium from November 21 to 25, 2025. Cricket Australia revealed the Ashes schedule during an event at Scarborough Beach, Perth, supported by the WA Government.
Following the Perth opener, the series will continue with a day-night Test in Brisbane at the Gabba from December 4 to 8. The Christmas Test will take place at Adelaide Oval from December 17 to 21, followed by the iconic Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30. The series will conclude with the traditional New Year’s Test in Sydney from January 4 to 8.
Ashes 2025-26
Cricket Australia (CA) has shared the schedule for the 2025-26 Ashes series, and this time, there are some important changes to the usual plan. The first match of the series will be held at Perth’s Optus Stadium from November 21 to 25, 2025. After that, the second Test will be a day-night match at Brisbane’s Gabba from December 4 to 8.
The third Test will take place in Adelaide from December 17 to 21. Unlike previous years, where it was a day-night match, this year’s Adelaide Test will be a regular day game. The fourth match, the famous Boxing Day Test, will be hosted at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26 to 30. The series will conclude with the final Test at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) from January 4 to 8, 2026.
One of the biggest changes is the shift in the traditional venues. For over 40 years, Brisbane has hosted the first Ashes Test, but this time, it will host the second match as a day-night game. This is the first time since the 1982-83 Ashes that Brisbane will not kick off the series.

Another change involves the Adelaide Test. In recent years, it has been known for its day-night format, but this year it will be a day game. This switch is part of a new deal between Cricket Australia and the South Australian government, which aims to make the Adelaide Test a key event during the holiday season to attract more tourists.

Gabba’s Future in Doubt
The future of Brisbane’s iconic Gabba stadium is uncertain due to redevelopment plans for the 2032 Olympics. The upcoming Ashes Test in December 2025 might be the last played at this venue, as no Tests are scheduled there for the 2026-27 season or beyond. The Gabba is expected to be unavailable by 2030 due to the redevelopment.
The stadium has hosted three day-night Tests, including the memorable West Indies victory in January 2024. However, concerns have been raised about the suitability of the pink ball at the Gabba, with bowlers reporting that the ball tends to become soft, affecting the pace of play.
