BBL 2024-25: The 14th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 will begin on Sunday, December 15, with the Perth Scorchers facing the Melbourne Stars in the opening match.
Defending champions Brisbane Heat will kick off their campaign on December 18, playing against the Melbourne Stars. This season, eight teams will compete in 44 matches, including 40 group-stage games, running until January 27, 2025.
The top four teams will advance to the playoffs, consisting of four matches: the Qualifier, Knockout, Challenger, and the Final. As in previous seasons, each team will play 10 group-stage matches, with five at home and five away.
BBL 2024-25
The Big Bash League BBL 2024-25 is set to start on Sunday, December 15, with the Perth Scorchers taking on the Melbourne Stars in the opening match at Optus Stadium in Perth. Defending champions Brisbane Heat will begin their campaign on Wednesday, December 18, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The league stage will feature 40 matches before the playoffs, which include the Qualifier, Knockout, and Challenger. The Final is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025. The Perth Scorchers, with five title wins, are the most successful team in BBL history.
David Warner will be available for the entire season with Sydney Thunder after signing a three-year deal. He will also lead the team. Marcus Stoinis has been named the captain of the Melbourne Stars, a team yet to win the title.
The Hobart Hurricanes are the only team besides the Stars to have never won the BBL, finishing as runners-up in 2013-14 and 2017-18. Players like Jacob Bethell and Jake Fraser-McGurk, part of the Renegades, are also expected to be in the spotlight.
