Simran Shaikh, Deandra Dottin, G Kamalini, and Prema Rawat emerged as the stars of the WPL 2025 Auction, commanding the highest bids. Held on Sunday, December 15, the auction saw five teams spend a total of Rs 9.05 crore to acquire 19 players. Simran Shaikh, previously with UP Warriorz, became the auction’s most expensive player after Gujarat Giants secured her for Rs 1.90 crore.
The Gujarat Giants also strengthened their roster by signing Deandra Dottin, the first player to go under the hammer, for Rs 1.70 crore. Meanwhile, 16-year-old G Kamalini grabbed attention after being picked by defending champions Mumbai Indians for Rs 1.60 crore.
Kamalini had shone earlier that day, playing a match-winning role in India’s nine-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Women’s U19 Asia Cup in Kuala Lumpur.
Uttarakhand leg-spinner Prema Rawat was another big name, fetching Rs 1.20 crore from Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB also added Joshitha VJ, Jagravi Pawar, and Raghvi Bist to their squad. Delhi Capitals focused on versatile talents, signing Nandini Kashyap, Scotland’s wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce, and Niki Prasad, captain of the Women’s U19 team.
In other notable moves, Nadine de Klerk, previously with RCB, joined Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians. Australian leg-spinner Alana King, a key player for Perth Scorchers, will now represent UP Warriorz.
