Royal Enfield Bear 650: Royal Enfield has officially launched the highly anticipated Classic 650 at EICMA 2024. This new model adds to their lineup of 650cc motorcycles, which includes the Shotgun, Continental GT, Interceptor, and Super Meteor.
Notably, the Classic 650 features a similar tuning as the other models, except for the Bear 650, which boasts a higher torque output. In terms of design, the Classic 650 stays true to Royal Enfield’s signature style, and at first glance, it closely resembles the immensely popular Classic 350.
Royal Enfield Bear 650
The new Royal Enfield Bear 650 has officially launched in India, with prices ranging from ₹3.39 lakh to ₹3.59 lakh (Ex-showroom, Chennai). This eagerly awaited motorcycle is designed as a purpose-built scrambler, built on the same 650cc platform as the Interceptor 650. While it shares the engine and chassis with the Interceptor, the Bear 650 features distinct suspension and wheels.
Its design captures the essence of classic scramblers from the 1960s, reminiscent of road-going motorcycles that were stripped down to their essentials, equipped with robust suspension, and ready for off-road adventures in deserts and trails.

Features of Royal Enfield Bear 650
The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is a stylish motorcycle designed for riders who love adventure. It features a sturdy 19-inch spoked wheel at the front and a slightly smaller 17-inch wheel at the back.
For a smooth ride, the front is equipped with a 43 mm Showa USD fork, which gives you 130 mm of travel, helping the bike handle bumps in the road. The rear suspension includes new shock absorbers with 115 mm of travel, making it comfortable on uneven surfaces.
With a ground clearance of 184 mm, the Bear 650 is high enough to navigate obstacles easily. It has a seat height of 830 mm, which is the tallest among all of Royal Enfield’s 650 cc motorcycles. The bike comes with special MRF Nylorex tyres that have block patterns, providing good grip on different terrains. However, it’s important to note that these tyres are not tubeless.
For stopping power, the Bear 650 has a 320 mm disc brake in the front and a 270 mm disc brake in the back. Weighing 216 kg, it is 2 kg lighter than the popular Interceptor 650, making it easier to handle.
The Bear 650 reflects its scrambler heritage with a wide handlebar, which gives you better control. The footpegs, where you rest your feet, are positioned differently than on the Interceptor 650, enhancing comfort during rides.
When it comes to features, this motorcycle includes dual-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) that can be switched off when needed, full LED lights for better visibility at night, and a round TFT display. This display is similar to what you’ll find on the Himalayan and Guerrilla 450 models. Additionally, it has a USB Type-C charging port, allowing you to charge your devices on the go.
Powering the Bear 650 is a 648 cc parallel-twin engine, the same one found in the Interceptor 650. This engine is both oil and air-cooled, which helps it run smoothly. It produces 47 horsepower at 7,150 rpm and generates a peak torque of 56.5 Nm at 5,150 rpm. The engine is connected to a 6-speed gearbox, providing a good balance of power and efficiency for various riding conditions.
You can choose from five attractive colors when buying the Bear 650: Wild Honey, Petrol Green, Golden Shadow, Boardwalk White, and Two Four Nine.
As of now, there are no direct competitors for the Royal Enfield Bear 650 in the market, which makes it a unique option for motorcycle enthusiasts. Deliveries for the Bear 650 are expected to start in November 2024, with bookings and test rides available from November 10, 2024.
