The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its first list of 66 candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections on Saturday. Babulal Marandi, the party’s state chief and a former Chief Minister, will run for the Dhanwar seat. Sita Soren, sister-in-law of current Chief Minister Hemant Soren from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), is the candidate for the Jamtara seat.
Other notable candidates include Champai Soren for Saraikella, Dr. Neera Yadav for Koderma, Geeta Koda for Jaganathpur, Narayan Das for Deoghar, Manoj Yadav for Barhi, Pradeep Prasad for Hazaribagh, and Ragini Singh for Jharia, among others.
BJP Announces 66 Candidates for Jharkhand Assembly Elections
On Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its first list of 66 candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections.
Among the candidates are state chief Babulal Marandi, who will contest from Dhanwar, Lobin Hembrom from Borio, Sita Soren from Jamtara, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren from Saraikella, Geeta Balmuchu from Chaibasa, Geeta Koda from Jaganathpur, and Meera Munda from Potka.
This announcement follows the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s declaration of seat-sharing arrangements for the elections. The BJP plans to contest 68 seats, while its NDA allies will field candidates for 10 seats (AJSU), 2 seats (JD(U)), and 1 seat (LJP).
The elections for the 81-member Jharkhand assembly will take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23, as announced by the Election Commission.
