Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) MP A Ganeshamoorthy, who recently attempted suicide by consuming pesticide, passed away due to a heart attack early on Thursday morning, according to news agency ANI.
The 76-year-old leader died while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore at around 5 am.
Ganeshamoorthy, who won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Erode on a DMK ticket, started feeling unwell and vomited on March 24. He was then taken to a private hospital in Erode by his family members.

According to the police, Ganeshamurthi, who was elected as a member of the DMK party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, began to feel unwell and was taken to a private hospital in the city on March 24.
Following an initial examination, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and put on a ventilator, as reported by PTI. Later on, the Tamil Nadu MP was transferred to a private hospital in nearby Coimbatore.

Ganeshamoorthy’s Tragic Passing Details
After undergoing medical tests, he was placed in the ICU and connected to a ventilator, according to statements from the police reported by news agency PTI.
The politician informed his family that he had ingested pesticide.
Later, Ganeshamoorthy was transferred to a private hospital in Coimbatore, accompanied by two doctors and family members in an ambulance.
The hospital released the body to authorities, who then took it to the Institute of Road Transport (IRT) Medical College Hospital for examination.
Following the examination, the body will be transported to Kumaravalasu village, located 15 km from Erode, for burial, as per sources from MDMK reported by PTI.
Ganeshamoorthy had previously been elected to the Lok Sabha from Palani in 1998 and Erode in 2009.
He is survived by a son and a daughter.

Numerous politicians, such as State Minister S Muthusamy for Urban Development and Housing, BJP MLA Dr. C Saraswathy from Modakurichi, and AIADMK leader K V Ramalingam, hurried to the hospital to check on Ganeshamurthi’s health.

Ganeshamurthi, a three-time Member of Parliament, was a key figure in the MDMK party. However, he became disheartened when the party didn’t choose him to run for the Erode seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
