Dwarka Expressway Benefits for Commuters

  1. The Dwarka Expressway, spanning 19 kilometers in Haryana, has been built at an estimated cost of around Rs. 4,100 crore. This includes two sections: the first is a 10.2 km stretch from Delhi-Haryana Border to Basai Rail-over-Bridge (ROB), and the second covers 8.7 km from Basai ROB to Kherki Daula.
  2. In Gurugram, the third and fourth sections extend about 19 km, while the initial two parts, totaling 10 km, are in Delhi. Starting from Shiv Murti near Mahipalpur on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, it passes through Dwarka Sector 21, the Gurugram border, Basai, and ends near Kherki Daula on the national highway.
  3. The Expressway is a groundbreaking project in India, featuring an entirely access-controlled, grade-separated 14-lane corridor. It boasts four multi-level interchanges with tunnels or underpasses, ground-level road sections, and elevated flyovers.
  4. An exceptional feature is the 8-lane elevated structure alongside India’s first 4 km long 8-lane tunnel near IGI airport, known as a ‘shallow tunnel’ for its less intrusive construction. This Expressway aims to cater to over 3 lakh vehicles daily, thereby reducing traffic congestion and vehicular pollution in the Delhi NCR region.
  5. Moreover, it will directly connect the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and the Gurugram Bypass, significantly improving transportation efficiency in the area.
