Goldy Brar Background
Satwinder Singh, also known as Satinderjit Singh or Goldy Brar, hails from Muktsar in Punjab. He is the son of Shamsher Singh, a former assistant sub-inspector in the Punjab police.
Goldy Brar was linked to a terrorist group named Babbar Khalsa, associated with numerous crimes including murders, smuggling of weapons, and promoting radical beliefs.
In 2017, he relocated to Canada on a student visa without any prior criminal record. Despite facing allegations of minor violence back in Punjab, he was cleared of these charges.
Upon settling in Canada, Brar reportedly took charge of Lawrence Bishnoi’s operations, a notorious Indian gangster imprisoned at the time. These operations involved activities like contract killings and extortion.
In 2022, an Interpol notice was issued against Brar, prompting him to allegedly move to the United States. He gained notoriety in Canada, ranking 15th on the country’s most wanted list for his alleged involvement in over 50 murders.
Brar made headlines when he claimed responsibility for the death of Sidhu Moose Wala.
Sidhu Moosewala Murder
In June 2023, Goldy Brar, a gangster, admitted to orchestrating the murder of Indian rap star and Congress politician, Sidhu Moose Wala. He claimed it was to avenge the death of a student leader named Vicky Middukhera in Punjab in 2022. Brar criticized Moose Wala as arrogant, stating that the musician misused his political and financial influence.
He also mentioned Salman Khan as one of his targets. Brar declared Moose Wala needed to be taught a lesson, and his actions were driven by a desire for retribution. He mentioned Lawrence Bishnoi’s involvement, who expressed anger towards Salman Khan over alleged remarks dating back to 1998.
Cases Against Goldy Brar
According to a lengthy legal document, Goldy Brar has been named as the main planner of the violent murder of a Punjabi singer. He’s also accused of killing Gurlal Singh Bhullar, a prominent leader in the Faridkot Youth Congress, allegedly in retaliation for the death of his cousin, Gurlal Brar. Authorities suspect Brar is associated with Babbar Khalsa International and Lakhbir Singh, a terrorist based in Canada.
The government officially labeled Goldy Brar a terrorist in January 2024, citing his involvement in numerous violent acts and his promotion of extremist beliefs. The notification issued by Praveen Vashista, an official from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, links Brar to smuggling weapons, ammunition, and explosives using drones from neighboring countries, which has led to unrest in Punjab.
