The problem occurs when the accelerator pedal pad dislodges and gets stuck by the interior trim. This issue has prompted Tesla to take action to ensure safety.

The recall affects Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and April 4, 2024. Tesla has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the recall.

Why Tesla Recalls Nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks?

In response to a significant problem causing the accelerator pedal to stick, a recall has been issued. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed that the pedal could get stuck due to a manufacturing error, leading to it becoming trapped in the vehicle’s trim.

This issue stemmed from an unauthorized change in the manufacturing process, where soap was used, affecting the pedal’s grip. Despite this flaw, the brakes still work even if the pedal is stuck. The recall affects all Cybertruck vehicles made between November 13, 2023, and April 4, 2024, totaling 3,878 trucks.

This includes all Cybertrucks manufactured since their introduction last year. Customers were alerted to the recall when they experienced delivery delays.

Tesla Accelerator Pedal Recall

One car owner was notified by their dealership about a problem with the accelerator pedal. This issue became more noticeable after a Cybertruck owner shared a video on TikTok, showing the accelerator pedal stuck at full throttle.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents, Tesla first learned about the faulty accelerator pedals on March 31st and officially reported it on April 3rd. Following internal investigations to find the cause, Tesla decided to recall the affected vehicles on April 12th.

As of this week, there have been no reports of accidents, injuries, or deaths related to this issue. Tesla has also promised to inform its stores and service centers about the problem by April 19th.

Owners of the Cybertruck can rest assured as the manufacturer pledges to refund or replace any affected parts at no cost. Additionally, any trucks manufactured after April 17th without the updated accelerator pedal component will be recalled promptly.

This marks the second instance of inconvenience for Cybertruck owners, following a previous recall affecting only US Tesla vehicles in February. The earlier recall addressed safety concerns related to the font size of flight control panel texts, which was promptly resolved through a software update.
