WPL 2025 Auction
The player auction for the third edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be held in Bengaluru on December 15. The BCCI released the list of shortlisted players for the mini-auction on Saturday, with overseas cricketers making up the majority in the first set.
A total of 120 players, including 29 overseas cricketers, have been shortlisted for bidding. The list features 90 uncapped players and 3 from associate nations. However, only 19 slots are available, as most players were retained by the franchises on November 7.
The first set includes just 6 Indian players, including star all-rounder Sneh Rana. Three players, Deandra Dottin, Lizelle Lee, and Heather Knight, have set their base price at Rs 50 lakh, making them likely to be the biggest buys on auction day.
Apart from Knight, four English players, Lauren Bell, Sarah Glenn, Danielle Gibson, and in-form Maia Bouchier, are also part of the first set. Bell was notably released by UP Warriorz last month and has set a base price of Rs 30 lakh.
The youngest player in the auction is 14-year-old fast bowler Anshu Nagar from Delhi, while Heather Knight, aged 34, will be the oldest player going under the hammer on December 15.
