The Indian cricket squad is set to face off against Pakistan, their long-standing rivals, on October 6 during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. This tournament is happening in Bangladesh from October 3 to 20. The International Cricket Council (ICC) just revealed the draws, groups, and the complete schedule for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 this past Sunday.
Women’s T20 World Cup 2024
The International Cricket Council recently unveiled the schedule for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. Running from October 3 to 20, the tournament will feature 10 teams split into two groups, playing 23 matches.
The announcement took place in Dhaka, with notable attendees including the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the ICC CEO. Notably, captains Harmanpreet Kaur and Nigar Sultana were also present.
India joins Group A, alongside Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and a yet-to-be-identified Qualifier 1 team. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India will play their matches in Sylhet, starting on October 4 against New Zealand, then facing Pakistan and the Qualifier team before their last group game against Australia on October 13.
Each team will play four group games, with the top two advancing to the semifinals on October 17 and 18, leading up to the final in Dhaka on October 20.
India, having reached the semi-finals four times, including the 2023 edition, where they were defeated by Australia, have only reached the final once, in 2020.

Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Teams and Groups
In the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, there are two groups:
Group A includes Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Group B comprises Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland.
Sri Lanka and Scotland secured their spots in the main tournament by reaching the final at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
During the main event, Group A matches will be held at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet, while Group B matches will take place at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for May 17 and 18. The final will be held at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium on October 20.
The tournament kicks off on October 3 with a match between South Africa and England, the previous edition’s runners-up. India’s journey begins on October 4 against New Zealand and they’ll face reigning champions Australia on October 13.
India reached the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020 but lost to the hosts. Last year, they were defeated in the semi-finals by Australia once more.
