Nepal’s former cricket team captain, Sandeep Lamichhane, faced a serious legal issue on Friday when a court convicted him of raping a minor. This followed his arrest after a 17-year-old girl accused him of the assault in a Kathmandu hotel room in August of the previous year.

A joint bench of judges, Dhruva Raj Nanda and Ramesh Dahal, ordered his release on a bail bond of ₹2 million under specific conditions.
