The intense campaigning for the Haryana Assembly elections, set for October 5, has now concluded.

In these elections, approximately 20,354,350 voters will participate, casting their ballots in the 15th Haryana Assembly Elections. Voting will take place from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm across 90 assembly constituencies, with a total of 1,031 candidates competing for election.

To facilitate the voting process, 20,632 polling booths have been established, and among the eligible voters are over 2 crore individuals, including 8,821 centenarians.

The results for the Haryana Assembly elections will be announced on October 8 (Tuesday), alongside those from Jammu and Kashmir.

Haryana Assembly Elections 2024

The Haryana Assembly election will take place in a single phase on Saturday, featuring 1,031 candidates, including 101 women, vying for seats in the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly.

One of the key figures to watch is former wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who joined the Congress party last month and is running in her first election from the Julana assembly constituency. Other prominent candidates include the current chief minister and BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini, former chief minister and Congress heavyweight Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and ex-deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala.

This election will be a significant battle between the two major national parties, the BJP and Congress. The BJP is facing a 10-year anti-incumbency challenge, while Congress aims to reclaim power in Haryana for the first time in a decade.

Constituencies in Haryana Assembly Elections 2024

The following are the constituencies in Haryana Assembly Elections 2024:

1. Ladwa

Main Candidates:

  • Nayab Singh Saini (BJP)
  • Mewa Singh (Congress)
  • Joga Singh Umri (AAP)
  • Vinod Kumar Sharma (JJP)
  • Sapna Barshami (INLD)

The Ladwa constituency, established in 2009, has yet to see a party win two consecutive terms. The BJP has fielded current CM Nayab Singh Saini, facing off against sitting MLA Mewa Singh from Congress. AAP’s Joga Singh Umri and candidates from other parties are also in the race.

2. Adampur

Adampur has been under the strong influence of the Bhajan Lal family since 1967. Bhavya Bishnoi, grandson of Bhajan Lal, is the current MLA. In the 2019 elections, Kuldeep Bishnoi won the seat for Congress by 29,471 votes. The JJP has allied with the Azad Samaj Party, while INLD has partnered with BSP for these elections.

3. Garhi Sampla-Kiloi

  • Manju Hooda (BJP)
  • Sushila Devi Deshwal (JJP)
  • Parveen Guskhani (AAP)
  • Krishan (INLD)

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda of Congress will face BJP’s Manju Hooda in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi. Manju Hooda is the current chairperson of Rohtak Zila Parishad and wife of a well-known gangster. This is a key contest in the 2024 Haryana elections.

4. Ambala Cantt

  • Anil Vij (BJP)
  • Parvinder Pal Pari (Congress)
  • Chitra Sarwara (Independent)
  • Onkar Singh (INLD)
  • Avtar Singh (JJP)
  • Raj Kaur Gill (AAP)

Anil Vij, a BJP veteran and former home minister, seeks his seventh consecutive win in Ambala Cantt. This time, he faces stiff competition from Chitra Sarwara, an independent candidate and former Congress member.

5. Rohtak

  • Bharat Bhushan Batra (Congress)
  • Bijender Hooda (AAP)
  • Jitender Balhara (JJP)
  • Dilour Mehra (INLD)

In 2019, Bharat Bhushan Batra from Congress won Rohtak by 50,437 votes, narrowly defeating BJP’s Manish Kumar Grover. In 2014, Grover defeated Batra by 11,132 votes, making Rohtak a battleground once again.

6. Bhiwani

  • Ghanshyam Saraf (BJP)
  • Indu (AAP)
  • Karambir Yadav (INLD)
  • Om Prakash (CPIM)

BJP’s Ghanshyam Saraf has held the Bhiwani seat since 2014, winning by large margins. In 2019, he won by 27,884 votes, and in 2014, he secured a victory by 28,597 votes, both times defeating his INLD rivals.

7. Gurgaon

Main Candidates:

  • Mohit Grover (Congress)
  • Mukesh Sharma (BJP)
  • Nishant Anand (AAP)

Gurgaon will see a fresh contest as Congress fields Mohit Grover, a young politician, while BJP has nominated Mukesh Sharma. AAP’s Nishant Anand also adds competition. The seat has seen BJP victories in 2019 and 2014.

8. Jagadhri

Kanwar Pal Gurjar of BJP won Jagadhri in 2019 with 66,376 votes, defeating Congress’ Akram Khan by 16,373 votes. The same duo also competed in 2014, with Kanwar Pal securing a larger margin of victory.

9. Ellenabad

Abhay Singh Chautala of INLD has held Ellenabad since 2010 and is seeking re-election in 2024. He faces BJP’s Amir Chand Mehta and Congress’ Bharat Singh Beniwal, with INLD banking on the support of Jat and Scheduled Caste communities.

10. Gohana
