According to a report by Reuters, based on information from two sources with direct knowledge, the 86-year-old was in intensive care. Despite these reports, Ratan Tata took to social media on October 7 to address the situation.

He called the news about his health “rumours” and assured his fans and followers that there is no need to worry. He explained that he is undergoing routine medical check-ups due to his age and that there’s nothing alarming about his condition.

Ratan Tata Died

Ratan Tata, the 86-year-old chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, is passed away. He was in critical condition and been treated in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Mumbai, according to a report by Reuters, which cited two sources familiar with the situation.

Earlier this week, Tata had reassured the public that his hospital visit was only for a routine check-up related to age and health conditions. Despite this, reports suggest that his condition has since worsened, leading to growing concerns.

On Monday, Ratan Tata addressed these concerns through a post on social media, where he dismissed rumors about his health. He stated, “There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits,” and clarified that his medical check-ups were routine. He also requested that the public and media refrain from spreading any false information.

In a social media post on Monday, Ratan Tata reassured the public that he was in good spirits and there was no reason to worry about his health.

Ratan Tata took over as chairman of the Tata Group, a vast business empire spanning industries from automobiles to steel, in 1991. The group was originally founded over a century ago by his great-grandfather. During his tenure, Tata made significant strides, including founding Tata Teleservices in 1996 and taking Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) public in 2004.

Ratan Tata served as the Chairman of Tata Sons from March 1991 until his retirement on December 28, 2012. Under his leadership, the Tata Group experienced remarkable growth, with revenues soaring from ₹10,000 crore in 1991 to an impressive USD 100.09 billion by the end of the 2011-12 fiscal year.

Tata spearheaded several significant acquisitions, including Tata Tea’s purchase of Tetley for USD 450 million in 2000, Tata Steel’s acquisition of Corus for GBP 6.2 billion in 2007, and Tata Motors’ landmark purchase of Jaguar Land Rover for USD 2.3 billion in 2008. These strategic moves resulted in over half of the group’s revenue coming from international markets.

Following his retirement, Tata was involved in a boardroom conflict with his successor, Cyrus Mistry, who was dismissed as Chairman of Tata Sons on October 24, 2016. Tata stepped back in as Interim Chairman after Mistry’s removal and later passed the leadership to N Chandrasekaran in January 2017, assuming the title of Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.
