PM Modi’s visit to Poland is significant because it is the first time in 45 years that an Indian Prime Minister has traveled to the country.

After his stay in Poland, Modi will make his way to Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, on August 23. This journey is unique because he will be traveling by road and rail, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to visit an active war zone. It is also the first time that an Indian head of government will visit Ukraine since it became an independent nation in 1991.

This visit to Ukraine is especially important because it comes just over a month after Modi visited Moscow for the annual India-Russia Summit, which took place on July 8-9. During that visit, Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and emphasized that conflicts cannot be resolved through fighting.

Many are now watching Modi’s visit to Ukraine closely to see what steps India might take to help end the conflict and bring about peace.

“My visit to Poland comes as we celebrate 70 years of diplomatic ties. Poland is a significant economic partner in Central Europe, and our shared commitment to democracy and pluralism strengthens our bond,” said Modi.

He also expressed his anticipation of meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to further enhance the partnership between the two nations. Additionally, Modi mentioned that he will connect with the Indian community in Poland during his visit.
