In Mumbai, PM Modi will kick off the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 with a Special Session. This major event is hosted by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), and the Fintech Convergence Council.
The festival will showcase around 800 speakers, including policymakers, regulators, senior bankers, industry experts, and academics from both India and abroad. They will lead over 350 sessions throughout the event.
GFF 2024 will spotlight the latest fintech innovations and feature the release of more than 20 reports and white papers that offer valuable insights and detailed information about the industry.
Projects in Palghar
- The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has announced a major initiative to launch world-class projects in Palghar. These projects aim to create a top-tier maritime gateway designed to enhance trade and economic growth. The new developments will include facilities for accommodating large container vessels, deeper drafts for ultra-large cargo ships, and improved infrastructure for efficient handling.
- Vadhvan Port, located near Dahanu town, is set to become one of India’s largest deep-water ports. It will offer direct links to international shipping routes, which will cut down transit times and costs. The port will feature cutting-edge technology, deep berths, and modern management systems, significantly boosting India’s maritime connectivity. This project is expected to create numerous jobs, support local businesses, and drive regional economic growth while following sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact.
- Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate 218 fisheries projects with a total investment of around ₹1,560 crores. These projects are designed to improve infrastructure and productivity in the fisheries sector, creating over five lakh jobs and enhancing fish production and post-harvest management.
- Additionally, the “National Rollout of the Vessel Communication and Support System” will be launched, costing approximately ₹360 crores. This initiative will see 1 lakh transponders installed on fishing vessels across 13 coastal states and UTs. Developed by ISRO, this system will improve safety, provide two-way communication for fishermen, and support rescue operations.
- Other initiatives include the development of fishing harbours and Integrated Aquaparks, as well as the introduction of advanced technologies like Recirculatory Aquaculture Systems and Biofloc to boost fisheries productivity.
