On Saturday, 20-year-old Drishti Verma from Theog, Himachal Pradesh, was pulled out of the wreckage in critical condition. She was immediately taken to Sohana Hospital but sadly passed away due to her injuries.

Mohali Building Collapse Swift Rescue Operations Underway
A case has been filed against the building owners, Parwinder Singh and Gagandeep Singh, according to the police.
Rescue and relief operations are underway at the accident site, led by teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Army, police, and district administration. Medical teams are on standby to assist if needed.
The Army reported that multiple debris clearance machines and earthmovers are being used at the site. The top layers of debris have been removed, and efforts are focused on accessing the basement.
In a tweet, the Army’s Western Command highlighted their swift response to the situation. They stated that Army columns, along with NDRF and state rescue teams, are working tirelessly to manage the crisis. Engineer Task Forces equipped with debris clearance machines and JCBs are actively involved, ensuring steady progress in the rescue efforts.
Several excavators were deployed as part of the ongoing rescue efforts at the site.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harsimran Singh Bal stated, “Clearance operations are underway. We have registered an FIR under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against the building’s owners, who are currently absconding.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “Sad news has come in about the collapse of a multi-storey building near Sohana in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali). Rescue teams and the administration are fully engaged at the site, and I am in constant contact with them,” he tweeted. He further assured strict action against those responsible and urged people to cooperate with authorities.
Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Pareek commented, “Rescue operations are ongoing. At this stage, we cannot confirm how many people are trapped. Teams from the NDRF, police, and fire department are actively working at the site. The cause of the collapse will be thoroughly investigated.”
Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang and Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh visited the location to oversee the rescue operations. Kulwant Singh described the event as a tragic incident, adding, “The rescue operation is in full swing.”
