Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 5
The fifth phase of the Lok Sabha election is set for May 20, covering 49 constituencies across eight states and Union territories. Voting will start at 7 am and end at 6 pm on that day.
This phase includes 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Maharashtra, seven in West Bengal, five in Bihar, five in Odisha, three in Jharkhand, and one each in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The seven-phase elections began on April 19 and will conclude on June 1. This extensive process involves 969 million registered voters from 36 states and union territories, who will elect 543 members to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament. The vote count is scheduled for June 4.
The first four phases, held on April 19, April 26, May 7, and May 13, had voter turnouts of 66.1%, 66.7%, 61%, and 67.3%, respectively.
Most political parties are part of two main coalitions: the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), a group of 26 parties led by the main opposition, the Congress party.

The Election Commission has confirmed that 695 candidates are competing in the fifth phase of voting. After reviewing 1,586 nomination forms submitted for this phase, they found 749 to be valid following the May 3 deadline.
