Two Suspects Arrested in NCP Leader Baba Siddique’s Murder
Two suspects arrested for the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique have claimed ties to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to police sources. The investigation revealed that the suspects were paid in advance, and their weapons were delivered a few days prior to the attack.
The 66-year-old politician was attacked on Saturday night outside his son Zeeshan Siddiqui’s office in Bandra East, Mumbai. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
The two arrested suspects, identified as 23-year-old Gurmail Baljit Singh from Haryana and 19-year-old Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, told investigators they were part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a notorious group linked to other high-profile cases, including a firing incident involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
Police officials shared that the suspects had been surveying the area for 25-30 days in preparation for the crime. While two suspects are in custody, a third person directly involved in the shooting remains at large. Authorities believe the trio arrived at the crime scene in an auto-rickshaw and waited before carrying out the attack.
Investigators also suspect another individual provided inside information to the shooters, assisting in the murder plot.
Bishnoi Gang’s Shadow Looms Over Baba Siddique’s Murder
Baba Siddique, a well-known political figure in Mumbai, was close to Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Sanjay Dutt. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, infamous for targeting those connected to Salman Khan, has a history of issuing death threats over the blackbuck hunting case, as the Bishnoi community worships the animal.
Last year, the gang fired at Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal’s home in Canada after he collaborated with Salman Khan on an album. The gang even claimed on social media that Grewal considers Salman like a brother. In a separate incident, one of the shooters involved in an attack on Salman Khan’s house died under suspicious circumstances at a Mumbai police station, further angering the Bishnoi gang.
While Lawrence Bishnoi remains behind bars, the gang is now being run by three wanted criminals from the United States: Lawrence’s brother Anmol Bishnoi, who coordinated attacks, including the one on Salman’s house; Goldy Brar, who was involved in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala; and Rohit Godar, who took credit for the Salman Khan house shooting via social media.
Baba Siddique, who served three terms representing Bandra (West) and held key ministerial positions, recently joined the Ajit Pawar-led NCP. His funeral is scheduled for Sunday evening at Bada Kabarastan in Mumbai, with the NCP cancelling all events for the day to honor their fallen leader.
