JEE Advanced 2024
Every year, one of the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee or the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, conducts the JEE Advanced under the Joint Admission Board (JAB). This exam determines admissions to various programs such as Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s, and Dual Degree at the 10+2 level across all 23 IITs, including the Indian School of Mines (ISM).

JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the JEE Advanced exam, candidates need to meet specific criteria set by the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Here’s what you need to know:
Performance in JEE Main 2024:
Candidates must qualify for Paper-1 of JEE Main 2024 and secure a position in the top 2,50,000 candidates. Additionally, they need to meet the cutoff for IIT admissions. The percentage of eligible candidates for different categories is as follows:
- Open: 40.5%
- General EWS: 10%
- OBC-NCL: 27%
- SC: 15%
- ST: 7.5%
- PWD: Horizontal reservation of 5% in all categories.
Number of Attempts:
Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced twice in two consecutive years.
Appearance in Class 12 Examination:
Applicants should have passed their Class 12 examination in 2022, or those appearing for the exam in 2024 can also apply for JEE Advanced 2024.
Earlier Admission at IITs/ISM:
Candidates should not have been previously admitted to an IIT, whether or not they continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat in the past. Those whose admission at IITs was canceled after joining are also ineligible.
Age Limit:
General category candidates should be born on or after October 1, 1998. A 5-year age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories.
Preparatory Course Admission:
Candidates admitted to a preparatory course in any IIT for the first time in 2022 can also apply for JEE Advanced 2024.
